Jerusalem, Israel — Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi began a two-day official visit to Israel on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. The visit, which runs through February 26, 2026, was formally announced by India’s Ministry of External Affairs in an official press release issued in New Delhi on February 24, 2026. The trip focuses on strengthening strategic cooperation in defense, technology, trade, and regional stability between the two countries.
The visit stemmed from a formal invitation extended by the Israeli government earlier in 2026 through diplomatic channels as part of the established high-level bilateral dialogue framework. After weeks of coordination between officials from both governments, the dates of February 25–26 were finalized, with Jerusalem and Tel Aviv set as the main locations for official engagements.
Modi arrived at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv on Wednesday morning local time, where he was received by senior Israeli officials before proceeding to Jerusalem for state-level meetings. At the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem, he held bilateral talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Discussions centered on expanding defense collaboration, including joint development and production of advanced military technologies, as well as strengthening intelligence and cybersecurity cooperation.
In an official media briefing, Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, stated that the visit reflects “the deep and growing strategic partnership between India and Israel across priority sectors.” He added that defense innovation, digital transformation, water management, and agricultural technology remain central pillars of bilateral engagement.
Following the bilateral meeting, Netanyahu said in a joint statement in Jerusalem that Israel views India as “a key strategic partner in Asia,” emphasizing that cooperation in defense systems and innovation has delivered tangible results for both nations. He noted that the two governments are committed to expanding collaboration amid evolving regional and global security challenges.
Modi is also scheduled to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. According to officials, the agenda includes strengthening cooperation in research and development, renewable energy, and high-tech industry partnerships, as well as discussing broader geopolitical developments in the Middle East.
Chronologically, the visit began with the official announcement released in New Delhi on February 24, 2026. Modi departed India later that day with a high-level delegation and arrived in Israel on the morning of February 25. The first day was dedicated to formal receptions and high-level bilateral talks, while the second day, February 26, is expected to include follow-up discussions and potential signing of memoranda of understanding in strategic sectors.
The visit takes place amid shifting geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East and heightened global focus on security and technology alliances. Both governments have stated that the February 2026 engagement aims to reinforce long-term cooperation, enhance economic resilience, and maintain stability through sustained diplomatic and strategic coordination.
