As of Sunday, January 4, 2026, the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police have not yet been able to determine the exact cause of death of three people who were found dead inside a rented house on Warakas V Alley 10, Tanjung Priok District, North Jakarta. The victims were discovered in an unusual condition on Friday morning, January 2, 2026, and the case remains under intensive investigation.

The incident came to light when a family member arrived at the rented house and found SS (50) along with her two children, AAL (27) and AAB (13), lying lifeless inside the residence. The discovery was immediately reported to local residents and the authorities. Officers from the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police secured the scene and conducted a thorough crime scene investigation.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Onkoseno Gradiarso Sukahar, stated that the police have not yet been able to reveal the cause of death. He emphasized that investigators must wait for the results of forensic and laboratory examinations before drawing any official conclusions.

Preliminary findings at the scene revealed unusual physical conditions on the victims, including foam coming from their mouths and reddish rashes on several parts of their bodies. These findings raised suspicions of possible exposure to harmful substances, but investigators have not determined whether the deaths were caused by poisoning, chemical exposure, or other factors.

In addition to the three fatalities, another family member was found in a weakened condition and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. Statements from this survivor, as well as testimonies from neighbors, are being collected as part of the ongoing investigation.

As of Sunday, police have questioned at least 10 witnesses, including family members and neighbors. Investigators also confiscated several pieces of evidence from the scene, such as food remains, beverage containers, victims’ clothing, and household items, all of which have been sent for forensic analysis.

According to AKBP Onkoseno, the investigation is being conducted carefully and comprehensively. Authorities are awaiting the results of toxicology tests and autopsies performed by the forensic team at the National Police Hospital in Kramat Jati before officially determining the cause of death.

At present, the case remains in the investigation stage, with no suspects named and no definitive indication of whether the incident constitutes a criminal act or resulted from other causes. Police have assured the public that further developments will be announced once all forensic findings have been completed and thoroughly analyzed.
