The defendants, Harris Mohammed (24) and Riccardo Nadim (20), were convicted of attempted murder after launching a coordinated assault that left the teenage victim with life-threatening injuries. During the trial, prosecutors established that the attack had been carefully planned in advance and was not a spontaneous act of violence.
According to evidence presented in court, the victim was traveling as a passenger in a taxi in the Bradford area when the incident took place. The attackers had already arranged their plan beforehand, targeting the victim and choosing the confined space of a taxi to limit any chance of escape.
As the taxi was moving through the city, it was forced to stop as part of the attackers’ setup. Within moments, both men approached the vehicle from opposite sides, carrying out what prosecutors described as a coordinated ambush. The victim, seated in the back of the taxi, was left with no opportunity to escape or defend himself.
The attack was then carried out with extreme brutality. One of the attackers fired a gun at close range, striking the victim in the face, while the second attacker repeatedly stabbed him with a knife. The entire incident happened quickly, leaving the taxi driver in shock and unable to intervene.
The victim suffered multiple serious injuries, including a gunshot wound and several stab wounds to his body. Emergency services rushed him to the hospital, where he underwent urgent medical treatment. He survived the attack after intensive care, although he sustained severe physical and psychological trauma.
An investigation conducted by West Yorkshire Police gathered crucial evidence, including CCTV footage and forensic analysis. Despite limited cooperation from the victim, investigators were able to build a strong case that clearly linked both suspects to the attack.
During the trial, prosecutors stated that the defendants had a clear intention to kill. In addition to attempted murder, both men were also convicted of firearms offenses and conspiracy-related charges. The judge described the attack as extremely violent, premeditated, and a serious threat to public safety.
Harris Mohammed was sentenced to 30 years in prison, while Riccardo Nadim received a 28-year sentence. The court emphasized the severity of the crime and the level of planning involved. Although the exact motive behind the attack was not fully disclosed during the trial, authorities confirmed that the victim had been specifically targeted in what was described as a deliberate and organized act of violence.
