British police have finally arrested a man identified as Kevin Leon Wooden after he spent six years on the run in connection with a brutal kidnapping and torture case that resulted in the death of a victim in 2019. The arrest marks a major development in one of the most disturbing criminal cases handled by authorities in recent years.

The case began in early 2019 when a Polish national was reported kidnapped in the Birmingham area. According to investigators, the victim was allegedly deceived by the suspect, who pretended to be an international law-enforcement officer in order to gain the victim’s trust and take him away without raising suspicion. After the victim was taken, he was reportedly subjected to severe abuse that left him with extremely serious burn injuries.

Authorities said the victim was not immediately killed at the scene. Instead, he was allegedly abandoned while still alive at a location far from where the kidnapping first took place. Despite suffering critical injuries, the victim was still able to walk and seek help from local residents before he was eventually taken to a hospital for emergency treatment.

Doctors attempted to save the victim’s life, but his condition continued to deteriorate because of the severity of his injuries. After receiving treatment for several months, the victim eventually died in mid-2019. The case was later described by police as one of the most brutal incidents they had ever investigated due to the extreme level of violence involved.

Following the incident, British police launched a large-scale investigation and later identified Kevin Leon Wooden as the main suspect. However, before officers could arrest him, the suspect had already fled abroad, forcing authorities to continue the search for several years. During that time, law-enforcement agencies from different countries were involved in tracking his whereabouts.

The search finally came to an end when the suspect was arrested outside the United Kingdom in 2025. After his arrest, he was extradited back to the UK to face legal proceedings. Police said the 46-year-old man is now facing multiple serious charges, including kidnapping, grievous bodily harm, and murder.

Authorities also stated that the case remains one of the most horrifying crimes they have handled because the victim suffered severe torture before eventually dying. As of March 2026, the legal process against the suspect is still ongoing in the United Kingdom, and the case has once again drawn international attention following the arrest after years on the run.
